Ranvet Iron Plus (20 Ltr/5 Ltr)

Ranvet Iron Plus: an iron syrup with added folic acid, for horses.

Quick facts

• For: high-performance horses and mares (Ranvet)
• Supplies: iron as ferric ammonium citrate, plus folic acid
• Sizes: 5 litre and 20 litre
• How to use: orally, or added daily to feed
• Taste: Ranvet describes it as a highly palatable liquid

What Ranvet says it does

• Maintains iron levels and red blood cell counts
• Provides elements for haemoglobin production and blood oxygenation
• Supports foal nutrition and blood formation when given to mares

Good to know

• It contains no cobalt, copper or zinc. Ranvet points to other products such as Ranvet Aminovite Plus for those.
• Also iron-related, but a different product: Ranvet Energy Plus, which has glycero-phosphate and choline as well.
• Do not guess iron levels. Anaemia and low performance need a vet and a blood test first.
• Check the dose on your label.
